In fairy tales, we have always imagined ourselves along a bridge surrounded by a kingdom and an accompanying fairy tale. But not all stories have a happy ending, and that could turn into a dark side. The world is home to magnificent forts and castles, but some of them are scary and are said to be haunted by horrifying stories. Here is the list of some of the haunted castles and forts around the world:
Dragsholm Slot, Denmark
Dragsholm Slot or Dragsholm Castle in Denmark is one of the most haunted castles in all of Europe. The castle is believed to be home to at least 100 ghosts.
Hotel Banff Springs, Canada
The Scottish-style Baronial Castle is one of the grand railway hotels and is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the country. The castle-turned-hotel has several locations with spooky activities. A woman is often seen dancing in the ballroom with fire erupting from her white dress, a family strolling down the hall who were murdered in room 873.
Eltz Castle, Germany
The castle dates from 1157. The castle has a few rooms open to tourists. Supposedly one of the most haunted rooms in Countess Agnes’ bedroom. The bed, chest and battle ax are still present in the room.
Chillingham Castle, England
Known to be the most haunted castle in Britain! The castle dungeons are filled with the tortured stories of prisoners. Local tells the chilling stories of a blue boy, the white lady and Lady Mary Berkeley.
Bhangarh Fort, India
The fort sits at the foot of the Aravali mountain range in Rajasthan which was abandoned in the 17th century. The ruins of the fort are left. According to the myth, a wise man who lived here cursed the city when the king disobeyed him. The fort is closed from sunset to sunrise.
