5 Student Favorite Restaurants in Berkeley Open for Take-Out, Delivery

With shelter-in-place orders still in effect in the Bay Area, it’s easy to get tired of cooking on your own.

Fortunately, many local restaurants in Berkeley offer pickup and delivery options, allowing for tasty meals while maintaining safety. Here are some favorites from Bay Area students.

Tasty pot

Address: 2115, rue Kittredge

Hours: 11:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., 5:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. (Closed on Wednesdays)

Available for take out by phone and for delivery via Uber Eats, DoorDash and HungryPanda

One of Berkeley’s many boba stores, Tasty Pot offers Taiwanese cuisine and specializes in hot soups in 12 different flavors.

Large portions are served with rice noodles or vermicelli, and customers can choose their own levels of spice.

Ribbon Pizzeria

Address: 2174 Shattuck Ave. or 2468 Telegraph Ave.

Hours: noon to 9 p.m.

Available for take out

With two locations in Berkeley and one in Oakland, Sliver Pizzeria offers plenty of delicious pizzas.

“I could eat there every day for lunch and never tire of their unique, vegetarian pizza (with green sauce),” UC Berkeley student Tiffany Hernandez said in an Instagram post.

In addition to offering vegetarian options, Sliver caters to vegan and gluten-free customers. Sliver offers a selection of toppings daily in order to keep its ingredients as fresh as possible.

Sliver also promotes social awareness around ending human trafficking by supporting local organizations.

Each location’s pizza of the day can be found on Sliver’s website, along with a schedule for the week ahead.

Berkeley Social Club

Address: 2050 University Avenue.

Hours: 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Offering contemporary Korean American cuisine, the Berkeley Social Club is a great choice for those looking to spend a little extra on brunch or dinner.

He is also the winner of the Best of Berkeley 2018 from the Daily Californian. price for the best Korean food.

“Berkeley Social Club is really good,” Oakland local Emma Ly said in a text. “Expensive, but good for happy hours.”

Dishes range from fried French toast for breakfast to Korean fried chicken for dinner. There is also a wide variety of non-fried choices.

Asha Tea House

Address: 2086 University Avenue.

Hours: 11 am-6pm (Closed Mondays)

Available for take out and delivery via DoorDash, Postmates, and the Asha Tea House website

Known for its artisanal teas, Asha Tea House offers a wide variety of tea and coffee drinks.

“Asha Tea House iced matcha latte is so good!” Diablo Valley College student Naomi Lucky said in a text. “And the staff are so nice and friendly!”

The tearoom offers drinks and snacks prepared by baristas, as well as dried whole leaf tea and glasses so that guests can prepare their drinks at home.

Asha Tea House offers boba, but only in certain drinks where it is a traditional ingredient, such as Taiwanese tapioca milk tea.

Matcha Mango Eclairs are available in limited quantities and pair perfectly with any drink you desire.

Gordo Taqueria

Address: 2989 College Ave.

Hours: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Available to take away via the Gordo Taqueria site and for delivery via Caviar

Offering burritos, tacos, platters, and quesadillas, Gordo is Berkeley’s quintessential taqueria.

Protein options include chicken, carnitas, and beef, as well as chili verde, beans, and cheese. Black beans, pinto, and fried beans are all available.

“Gordo’s quesadillas are basically the same as their burritos but a dollar cheaper,” UC Berkeley student Johanna Castro-Karney said in an Instagram post.

While guacamole costs more, it can be purchased in larger quantities as a side dish, with quarter and half-pint options. Bring some friends and get a big one to share!
