City of Albany: City Council meeting summary, November 1, 2021

Here is a summary of the actions taken by the municipal council as part of the extraordinary and regular meetings of November 1, 2021:

Closed session – There was no action to report.

Review of the advisory body’s work plan – The Council reviewed the revised work plan submitted by the Social and Economic Justice Commission and approved the work plan as presented.

American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Fund: The Council adopted Resolution n ° 2021-109, by allocating $ 900,000 in ARPA funds to the temporary COVID public assistance program, including a temporary COVID community engagement specialist to facilitate the program and enhance existing city programs such as the Brown Bag Program and the Program with BFHP (Berkeley Food & Housing Project).

Outdoor dining: Council asked staff to continue with the process as proposed to allow businesses to apply for an encroachment permit for long-term alfresco dining and also an encroachment permit for the use of sidewalk space.

Request for Proposals – Community Satisfaction and Racial Equity Survey: Council authorized the publication of a request for proposals for services to prepare and implement a survey on community satisfaction and racial equity.
