The collision took place shortly before 10 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Addison Street.
Police say the driver, a 78-year-old Emeryville woman, was traveling south on MLK in a white Toyota Corolla when she encountered the couple as they drove west through Addison.
The woman, 74, and the man, 76, suffered head injuries when they were struck, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. There were no immediate signs of intoxication.
