Three Seminoles named to CCAA preseason All-Conference team
Tallahassee, Florida – On Wednesday, Feb. 23, the CCSA named Alaina Chacon, Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer to the All-Conference Preseason Team and Jordan Polo to the Watch List for the upcoming 2022 season. The three Seminole student-athletes from the All-Conference preseason squad tied for the most in the conference.
Alaina Chacon returns this year for her fifth season as a Seminole. She enters the season with a career record of 71-29. She finished the 2021 season with a 25-13 record. In 2021, Chacon was named the CCSA Pair of the Tournament and a second-team Volleyball magazine All-American along with Maddie Anderson. Chacon was also named AVCA Second Team All-American along with Molly McBain. Chacon ranks 19and of all time at FSU in wins after the 2021 season.
Maddie Anderson enters the 2022 season as a sophomore in a red shirt. Anderson’s career record is 44-7, up from 32-6 last season. In addition to her accolades earned with Chacon, Anderson was also named collegebeachvb.com’s 2022 Breakthrough Player of the Year. She was also named to the 2021 CCAA All-Freshman Team. Anderson and Sara Putt also won the CCSA Pair of the Week on March 31, 2021. Anderson is currently second all-time in career winning percentage at FSU (86.3).
Brook Bauer is entering his first year as a Seminole after finishing at Pepperdine for four seasons. Bauer has 43 career wins with the Waves, with just 24 losses. At Pepperdine, Bauer earned AVCA All-American First Team honors in 2019 and was named to Volleyball Magazine’s All-American Team in 2018 and 2019. Bauer was also named to DiG Magazine All-American Second Team in 2019. In his freshman year at Pepperdine, Bauer earned Pepperdine’s first-ever West Coast Conference freshman honor.
Jordan Polo is another transfer that adds depth to the Seminole team this season. Polo completed three seasons at the University of California, Berkeley. Polo racked up 45 wins at Cal, placing her at number 10 all-time in most wins and number three in winning percentage (.744) at Cal. Polo was named to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team after going 2-1 in the Pac-12 Championship and winning the deciding game against No. 8 Arizona. Polo is also a three-time AVCA Academic All-American.
The winners, along with the rest of the Seminoles, begin their home season this weekend as hosts of the FSU Beach Bash (February 26-27).
