VERY valuable lottery ticket sold at Cedar Rapids

Someone who bought a lottery ticket at Cedar Rapids has something worth a lot of money. Is it you?

A ticket was bought from Cedar Rapids which will hopefully pay someone off every year for the rest of their very long life.

According to an Iowa Lottery press release, someone purchased a Lucky for Life ticket which was a big winner in Thursday night’s draw. The ticket holder did not win the first prize of $ 1,000 per day for life, but did win the second best prize: $ 25,000 per year, for life.

The ticket matched five numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, in Thursday night’s draw. If you bought a ticket for this drawing at Casey’s at 641 Edgewood Road NW in Cedar Rapids, you better check your numbers! Or if you know someone who buys lottery tickets there, give them a call. Who knows, that might be worth something to you … maybe they’ll give you a lump sum of, say, $ 1,000 a year. Yeah, that sounds fair.

Interestingly enough, Thursday was the day Michael Pietz from Adel, Iowa claimed his $ 25,000 a year, for life. Pietz won in the October 13 draw. He told the Iowa Lottery he didn’t even realize what happened at first:

I was talking with the clerk and I wasn’t paying too much attention. I scanned him and he said, ‘Wait a minute, what did that say?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know, probably something like $ 10.’ And I scanned it again and I thought, ‘That can’t be true.’ And I scanned it again, then I had it scanned.

Pietz is 37 years old. Global life expectancy says the average life expectancy for Iowa residents is 79.71 years. If Pietz were to live to that age, his bill would be worth around a million dollars. Before taxes, but I would take it. Now … who bought that ticket at Cedar Rapids?
